Follow the Bouncing Recession

TRENTON, N.J. — Americans are bouncing more checks because of the recession.
The number of bad checks increased 33% from 1988 to 1990, the American Bankers Assn. said. The American Collectors Assn. Inc. estimates that 482 million checks totaling $14 billion bounced in 1990.
The figure rose again last year and may keep rising in 1992, experts say.
Americans write more that 1 million rubber checks a day, figures show.
