COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Hernandez Leads SCC to Sweep in Softball

Southern California College’s Renee Hernandez had four hits and two runs batted in during a 10-0 victory over Cal State Stanislaus Tuesday in the second game of a nonconference softball doubleheader.
Host SCC (22-8-1) swept the doubleheader, also won the first game, 4-2, as pitcher Shannon Saylor won her 13th game. She also had an RBI single.
In nonconference baseball:
Hawaii Hilo 3-1, Southern California College 0-4--Albert Contreras’ single drove in Frank Howell, who scored the final run for SCC (18-18-1). Nate Waysuhara scored from third on an SCC throwing error in the fifth for Hawaii Hilo (15-7).
San Diego 15, UC Irvine 3--San Diego scored five runs in the first and led, 12-0, after 4 1/2 innings. Brady Clark had four hits, three runs scored and three RBIs and Kevin Herde had two hits with four RBIs for San Diego (11-11). Ray Walker had a two-run double in the fifth inning for host Irvine (17-18).
In Big West Conference women’s tennis:
UC Santa Barbara 8, UC Irvine 1--Debbie Goldberger swept her sets at No. 1 singles for UC Santa Barbara, 6-4, 6-3. Teammate Laura Rutledge swept her No. 2 singles sets, 6-2, 6-3. UC Irvine falls to 14-6, 4-2 in conference.
