4 Bryans to Represent U.S. in World Junior Tennis Event

All four members of a Camarillo family will represent the United States in the World Cup, a Davis Cup format for junior tennis players, today through Monday in Tucson, Ariz.

Mike and Bob Bryan, 13-year-old twins, will team with Keith Bril of Columbia, S.C., on a three-player 14-and-under team. Wayne and Kathy Bryan, pros at the Cabrillo Racquet Club, will coach the boys’ and girls’ 16-and-under teams.

Maria Costa of Chaminade High has signed a letter of intent to play softball at UC Santa Barbara.

Costa, a senior third baseman, has a .405 batting average in three-plus seasons at Chaminade and is eight hits shy of 100. She has struck out only four times in more than 200 at-bats.

Costa has been an All-Mission League selection the past three years and an All-Southern Section selection the past two. She also excels in basketball, earning Times All-Valley recognition the past two seasons.

Volleyball standout Aimee Sayles of Antelope Valley High has signed a letter of commitment to play at Antelope Valley College in the fall, Coach Jane Cwayna announced.

Sayles, a 5-foot-7 setter, was named to the All-Mid-Valley League team as a freshman at Birmingham and was selected league most valuable player as a sophomore.

After transferring to Antelope Valley, Sayles was named to the All-Golden League team in her junior and senior seasons.

Antelope Valley College’s Heidi Roarty has signed a letter of intent to play at South Florida in the fall.

Roarty, an All-Foothill Conference selection, helped the Marauders finish second in conference play with a 14-2 record.
