WORLD IN BRIEF : INDIA : Tainted Liquor Kills 162, Sickens 448

At least 49 more people died in eastern India from drinking tainted liquor, bringing the death toll in the mass poisoning to 162, Press Trust of India reported. An additional 448 people were hospitalized. Police in the city of Cuttack said the liquor contained a high percentage of methyl alcohol and was further adulterated to make it stronger. Police arrested 13 people and closed down all drink shops.
