Houses Swept Away by Floods in Northern Iran

NICOSIA, Cyprus — Weekend floods in northern Iran destroyed dozens of houses and bridges and ruined thousands of acres of farms and orchards, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported Sunday.
In Khorasan province, rains damaged or destroyed about 50 houses, swept away 20 bridges and ruined 2,000 acres of farms and orchards. Damage to one village in the Shirvan district was estimated at $5 million, the news agency said.
