San Gabriel Mts. : Sluicing to Be Discussed
- Share via
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will host a public forum in Azusa on Thursday concerning plans to sluice mud debris from three reservoirs along the San Gabriel River.
Based on the experience gained in a controversial pilot program of sluicing sediment from the Morris Reservoir last year, county officials now are preparing environmental studies on more extensive sluicing of Cogswell, San Gabriel and Morris reservoirs.
The meeting will be at the Azusa Civic Auditorium, 213 E. Foothill Blvd., from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. County officials and the county’s consultant will be available to informally explain the project and to answer questions. From 7:30 to 9 p.m., there will be a more formal presentation.
County officials said they expect it will take until the end of the year to prepare the environmental studies required for the project.
