Poverty and Crime
Conservatives, in their not-too-subtle racism and desire to force a police state on our country, are, as usual, altering reality by summarily dismissing the concept that “poverty causes crime.” That’s not the point that thoughtful people are making.
The point is that the “guarantee” of poverty causes crime. It’s interesting to imagine a Simi Valley where all the parents of all the kids in school are sat down and told that “we’re turning your schools into garbage and, oh-by-the-way, if your kid is really, really lucky he can look forward to a career flipping burgers.”
How long does anyone think it would be before Ventura County starts burning?
