A suspicious fire caused about $130,000 worth of damage to an El Cajon elementary school, the Fire Department reported.
The fire at Chase Avenue Elementary School began around 10 p.m. Sunday and took about 35 minutes to bring under control, said dispatcher Larry Craig. Two classrooms were damaged by fire and two others were damaged by smoke, officials said. About $30,000 in school furniture and supplies were lost.
An arson fire last June caused $200,000 in damage to the school’s administration building. A 16-year old boy was later arrested in that case.
