Ida Anne Barnhardt Tighe, 104, identified by the Veterans Administration as the oldest woman U.S. military veteran. Mrs. Tighe, a widow, enlisted in the Navy on July 18, 1918. She was honorably discharged Feb. 3, 1919, shortly after World War I ended. She said she joined the Navy to see the world, but she spent her entire enlistment at Norfolk, Va., where she was a secretary. Mrs. Tighe was born in Cabarrus County, N.C., on March 25, 1888. In Salisbury, N.C., on Friday.
