7 Pasadena Teachers Honored for Excellence

The Rotary Club of Pasadena has named seven Teachers of Excellence from the Pasadena Unified School District.
* Suellen Whitson Bowman teaches first grade at Don Benito School. She is also treasurer of Pasadena Partners in Education, a coalition of teachers from public and private schools.
* Temetra Gronemeier teaches world literature at Marshall High School and is active in Pasadena Citizens for Representative Government.
* Shirley A. Hingst teaches first grade at Linda Vista Elementary School and is involved in the Webb Center for Abused Children.
* Carol Ann Phillips, who teaches first grade at Jefferson Elementary School, is also active in the P.T.A.
* Frederick W. Purdy, an eighth grade teacher at Wilson Middle School, is a founding member of the Pasadena Education Foundation and president of the board of education in the Monrovia Unified School District.
* Irisann E. Robinson, a supporter of local museums, is a third grade teacher at Willard Elementary School.
* Leslie Warburton is a special-education teacher at Roosevelt School. She is active in the Child Care Information Service and the Committee for Children with Special Needs.
Each teacher received $2,000.
