Several Students Win Science Fair Awards

Several San Gabriel Valley students were winners in the California State Science Fair at the California Museum of Science and Industry in Los Angeles.
Anandev Gurjala of Claremont, a University High School student, won first in the senior category for botany. Ngoc Tran of Alhambra High School won first in the senior category for zoology.
Tom Wang, also of Alhambra High, won second in the senior category for pharmacology.
Junior division is seventh and eighth grades; senior is ninth through 12th grades. Each division had 15 categories: behavioral sciences, biochemistry, botany, chemistry, computers, earth sciences, engineering applications, engineering research, mathematics, environmental sciences, microbiology, pharmacology, physics and astronomy, physiology and zoology.
