Sammy Fuentes of Puerto Rico knocked out Marco Antonio Lizarraga of Mexico in the seventh round of a scheduled 10-round junior-welterweight bout at the Forum. Fuentes knocked Lizarraga down with a right uppercut, and the Mexican fighter was counted out by referee Lou Moret at 2:28.

Fuentes, 142 pounds, improved to 23-9-1 with 19 victories by knockout. Lizarraga, 140 1/2, fell to 37-5-1 with 26 knockouts.

In an earlier 10-round junior-welterweight fight, David Kamau (16-0) of Los Angeles stopped Pedro de la Cruz (11-5-1) of Mexico in the in the second round.
