VPs Named for Newport Blue: Two veteran surf-wear executives were selected as vice presidents Tuesday of the Newport Blue label of Ocean Pacific Sunwear Ltd., helping to replace the division’s president who recently resigned.
Dick Nagel will take charge of the division’s sales and Nat Norfleet will head design efforts as they jointly run Newport Blue, which makes surf and sailing wear aimed at men in their 20s and 30s. They replace John Bernards, who resigned last month shortly before Tustin-based Ocean Pacific filed for protection from creditors under a Chapter 11 reorganization.
Nagel is a 22-year veteran of the apparel industry who most recently was OP’s western regional sales manager. Norfleet has been working as design and merchandise director for the Jimmy’Z division of OP.
