This is the rock ‘n’ roll lineup for the week. In the interest of convenience, we offer the following suggestions: For country music, try Cousin’s in Simi Valley, the Crazy Bull in Camarillo, or the Ban-Dar or the Chaparral Club in Ventura, the Galleon Room in Goleta--or try Bakersfield. For jazz, try Bistro Primo in Camarillo, the Bombay in Ventura, or Joseppi’s or SoHO in Santa Barbara. For karaoke, try your shower and give us all a break. For Top 40 brain death cover bands, who cares anyway?

TONIGHT

* Rude Mood, Nasty Habit (Charlie’s, 362 California St., Ventura, 648-6688) . Guy Martin was a guest guitarist for Raging Arb a few years back. Now, he wears a hat and plays like his guitar hero Stevie Ray Vaughan.

* Das & Dub Soldier (Club Soda, 317 E. Main St., Ventura, 652-0100) . Local reggae legend thrills the locals, mon.

* The Offenders (Toe’s Tavern, 416 State St., Santa Barbara, 965-4655) . R & B out of San Diego meets free pizza from across the street.

* Zack & the Modern View (The Ketch, 514 State St., Santa Barbara, 564-3231) . World Beat and reggae and free pizza for an hour if you eat fast.

* Fin, Greg & Dave (Alex’s Cantina, 633 State St., Santa Barbara, 966-0032) . Swell black-leather pop rock by the trio that takes requests and is rarely stumped. (Also Friday)

* The Bluescasters (Art’s Bar, 2411 De la Vina St., Santa Barbara, 569-0052) . No surprises here--it’s the blues.

FRIDAY

* Tim Buley Band (Champs, 1900 S. Victoria Ave., Oxnard, 984-8015) . Local guitar whiz does it near the harbor. (Also Saturday at Octavio’s in Westlake Village)

* Life Outta Control, Thought Festival (The Insomniac Coffeehouse, 255 S. Laurel St., Ventura, 648-5019) . Local band night at the place with no booze.

* Etta James, Randy Norris & Full Degree (Ventura Theatre, 26 Chestnut St., Ventura, 648-1888) . Blues legend whose first hit was in 1954 when she was 14.

* Ariel (Bermuda Triangle, 477 E. Main St., Ventura, 653-0466) . Hot alternative guitar band.

* Irie Ites (Charlie’s) . Reggae by finheads from Silver Strand.

* Rick Reeves & the Future Blues (Big Yellow House, 108 Pierpont St., Summerland, 969-4140) . You can see it from the freeway--it’s the big yellow house and, also, truth in advertising. The music is oldies and blues. (Also Saturday)

* Leo Downey Band (Brewhouse Grill, 202 State St., Santa Barbara, 963-3090) . Ladies’ heart throb who cuts the sleeves out of all his shirts and plays a mean guitar, too.

* J. D.’s Last Ride (Toe’s Tavern) . No cover, pool and Ping-Pong, a zillion types of beer and raging rockabilly.

* Tao Jonz (The Ketch) . Reggae, rock, jazz and a new CD.

* The Crawdads (Art’s Bar) . Tom Bucy plays a rockin’ blues guitar and sings, too.

SATURDAY

* The Signifiers (Hi Cees, 1583 Spinnaker Drive, Ventura, 658-8420) . Blues in the afternoon at the Fog Capital of Southern California, the Ventura Marina. (Also tonight at Art’s Bar in S. B.)

* Rust (Garfields Bar & Grill, 2789 E. Main St., Ventura, 648-1917) . Good, cheap food, drink specials and, tonight, rock ‘n’ roll.

* Waylon Jennings (Ventura Theatre) . Wahoo, buddy!

* Spencer the Gardener (Charlie’s) . Dance-a-thon at Chuck’s--the biggest and best show of the month.

* The Plowboys (Toe’s Tavern) . Not the landscape company in Ventura, but goofy rockabilly.

* Circle of Friends (Alex’s Cantina) . Another new band in a town full of new bands.

SUNDAY

* John Marx & the Blues Patrol (Hi Cees) . Rockin’ blues in the afternoon.

* Jawge & the Unknown Band (Bermuda Triangle) . Upbeat reggae in lieu of the Bundys.

MONDAY

* Gypsy Soul (Cheers, 1308 E. Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley, 581-2488) . Hard rock night comes to the east county.

* Hook & the Hitchikers (Alexander’s, Spinnaker Drive and Harbor Boulevard, Ventura, 658-2000) . Rockin’ blues from the 213 area code. See Night Life

* Two Good Reasons (Charlie’s) . Folk rock on the beach.

* Little Jonny & the Giants (Joseppi’s, 434 State St., Santa Barbara, 962-5516) . Rockin’ blues at the tiny hole-in-the-wall hangout.

TUESDAY

* Naked Faces (Charlie’s) . New band and, usually, Tuesday is hard rock night.

* The Wedding Band (The Beach Shack, 500 Anacapa St., Santa Barbara, 966-1634) . They finally moved to the Beach Shack. This is still the ultimate S. B. dance party.

WEDNESDAY

* Whereabouts (Charlie’s) . These local rockers bring new bands, some so new they don’t even have names yet.

* Brilliant Daydream (Alex’s Cantina) . Psychedelic music from the Ojai Valley.

* Native Sky (Toe’s Tavern) . Power pop but no free pizza with this show.

* Leadhead, Indica, Primal Tribe, Straight Jacket Jesus, Kronix (Prime Directive, 634 State St., Santa Barbara, 564-4862) . Speed and thrash metal loud enough to make your ears bleed, fall off, then run like hell.

* Slam Alice (Art’s Bar) . Hard rock at the neighborhood bar.

* Official Resistance (Alex’s Cantina, 633 State St., Santa Barbara, 966-0032) . They’ve got enough tattoos to fill three Hells Angels chapters, but they rock a lot harder.
