SPECIAL REPORT: NOLAN RYAN

NOT FORGOTTEN: Nolan Ryan, who pitched four of his major league record seven no-hitters as an Angel, will have his number retired in ceremonies before Tuesday night’s game at Anaheim Stadium against the Texas Rangers. He’s then scheduled to pitch Wednesday against Mark Langston. . . . Ryan’s No. 30 uniform will join Rod Carew’s No. 29 and the No. 26 jersey--symbolic of the 26th man and presented to owner Gene Autry by the 1982 team--in the Angels Hall of Fame. . . . Eleven of the American League’s 14 franchises have retired numbers. The Yankees have retired the most (12), including Babe Ruth’s No. 3 and No. 8, which was worn by both Bill Dickey and Yogi Berra.
