Jerry Payne, 72, the Hollywood writer and director who created the television game show “The Cross-Wits.” Payne was chief writer for Ralph Edwards’ television series “Truth or Consequences.” He also wrote occasional articles for the Los Angeles Times’ Sunday travel section. On June 10 in Laguna Beach of cancer.
