Santa Margarita’s Booth Leads Girls’ Top Threesome

Girls get no breaks in high school golf in the Southern Section, but several Orange County girls proved they didn’t need any this season.
Santa Margarita sophomore Kellee Booth was the No. 4 player for the Eagles, who were one of the strongest teams in Southern California. Laguna Hills junior Eunice Choi ranked second for the Hawks, who finished third in the Pacific Coast League. Foothill sophomore Alicia Allison was among the best players on her team despite an ankle injury that caused her to miss early-season matches.
So who’s the best? Booth won a head-to-head-to-head competition at the CIF-Southern California Golf Assn. girls’ championship last week. Playing in the same threesome from the ladies’ tees at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Booth and Choi each shot four-over 78 to 81 for Allison.
Booth then made par on the fifth hole of a sudden-death playoff to defeat Choi for the title.
