Pomona : Gerolaga Gets 6-Year Term
Frank Gerolaga, a Navy man found guilty of two counts of voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death last October of his wife, who was seven months pregnant, has been sentenced to six years in state prison.
Gerolaga, 30, was sentenced last week, after having been convicted June 3 in Pomona Superior Court for killing his wife, Vickie, and the baby girl, who lived for 14 hours. In an earlier trial, the jury deadlocked 11-1 in favor of convicting Gerolaga of second-degree murder.
Prosecutors said the shootings occurred in the midst of a family argument. Gerolaga maintained that his wife died after the couple’s son, Michael, 3, picked up the gun brandished by his father and accidentally shot his mother.
