SANTA MONICA : Police Identify 3 Killed in Murder-Suicide

Police have identified the three people who were fatally shot on Monday at Clover Park.

Michele R. Zenner, 44, of Santa Monica, was killed along with her boyfriend, Paul T. Johnson, 29, of West Los Angeles. Police said Zenner and Johnson were sitting in a car at the park about 11:20 a.m. when they were approached by Zenner’s ex-husband, Bruce Breitstein, 41. After shooting the pair to death with a .38-caliber handgun, Breitstein shot himself in the head and died, police said.

Zenner and Breitstein, also a Santa Monica resident, had divorced in February. Police speculated that Breitstein, who was unemployed, was upset over the fact that he and Zenner were not reuniting and that Zenner had become involved with Johnson. Zenner and Johnson, both sales clerks at a West Los Angeles store, had met at work.
