Nomar Garciaparra drove in six runs with a single, double and three-run homer as the U.S. Olympic team wrapped up its national tour with a 13-2 victory over Canada at Philadelphia.
Garciaparra, 18, an infielder from Whittier who attends Georgia Tech, is the youngest player on the U.S. team (20-9).
Third baseman Phil Nevin of Cal State Fullerton went into Saturday’s game hitting .389 with seven homers and a team-leading 25 runs batted in, and infielder Chris Wimmer of Wichita State hit .365 with four homers.
The U.S. team leaves for Barcelona on Wednesday after an exhibition game against former major leaguers Tuesday at St. Petersburg, Fla.
