The Raiders left six injured players at their training camp in Oxnard when they departed Monday for Austin, Tex., for three days of practice against the Dallas Cowboys.
Safety Bernard Ellison (knee), fullback Brent Fullwood (knee), tight ends Greg Harrell (knee) and Andrew Glover (hamstring), running back Steve Smith (calf) and wide receiver Mike Alexander (groin) will receive treatment in Oxnard.
“Any time they lose time, it can hurt them,” Coach Art Shell said. “But the key thing for us is to get them healthy enough so they can get back on the field and compete.”
Tight end David Jones, a Plan B free agent who was acquired from San Diego, made several outstanding catches during practice Monday.
Shell said the Raiders will also try him at wide receiver.
