Tiger Woods of Cypress with five birdies and a bogey, shot a four-under par 68 to take the boys’ 15-17 division lead after the opening round of the Optimist Junior World Golf Championships at Torrey Pines South Course in La Jolla. Erika Hayashida of Lima, Peru, and Betty Chen of La Quinta shot par 74s on the Torrey Pines North to tie for the lead in the girls’ 15-17 division.
