STILL FLOURISHING: The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus at the Anaheim Convention Center this week (OC LIVE!, Page 3) is drawing tons of youngsters. But the circus has always been an exciting event here. . . . Orange County history author Jim Sleeper wrote about the first Ringling Bros. circus to appear here on Oct. 11, 1900: “With a flourish of trumpets” down 4th Street in Santa Ana, it “rumbled, clattered and growled” through downtown. No one, Sleeper says, “could have asked for anything better.”
