Ford Sales Up 11.1%: Ford Motor Co. said its vehicle sales rose 11.1% in mid-July, and auto dealers reported further progress in persuading consumers to purchase new cars and trucks. The No. 2 auto maker’s car sales were up 4.9% against a weak period last year. Light truck sales, which have been leading the auto industry’s gradual emergence from a long slump, surged 18.8%. Ford was the only one of the Big Three U.S. auto makers to report results for the July 11-20 period.
