Canoe Men’s (Flatwater Sprint):
Name: David Spaulding Age: 25 City: Newport Beach Profile: Worked as a gofer at the canoe races during the 1984 games. A UC Irvine graduate, he’s in Barcelona as an alternate. Name: Fred Spaulding Age: 26 City: Costa Mesa Profile: Newport Aquatic Center member is making a bid for two medals, in the canoe singles 500- and 1,000-meter events. Name: Jim Terrell Age: 27 City: Newport Beach Profile: Making his third trip to the Olympics and hoping to win his first medal. Has won a record 27 U.S. Olympic Festival medals.
Judo:
Name: Tony Okada Age: 19 City: Stanton Profile: Savanna High grad is seeking to become first American to win Olympic judo title. Won a gold medal at ’91 Olympic Festival.

Name: Mark Hamilton Age: 34 City: Costa Mesa Profile: City of Orange employee was a member of 1,000-meter quad crew that won row-off for right to represent the U.S. Name: Mitch Kahn Age: 31 City: San Clemente Profile: An Orange County fireman stationed in Mission Viejo, he will be an alternate in Barcelona after his quad lost row-off. Name: Sheila Conover Age: 29 City: Newport Beach Profile: Making her third Olympic appearance, she will be competing in the 500-meter singles and quadruple events. Name: Cathy Marino Age: 35 City: Huntington Beach Profile: Oldest member of the kayak team and a 1988 Olympian, she will compete in double and quadruple 500-meter events.

Tennis Men’s:
Name: Michael Chang Age: 20 City: Coto de Caza Profile: Has been playing in Europe in recent weeks to sharpen game on red clay, surface that will be used in Barcelona.

Name: Brent Hilliard Age: 22 City: Dana Point Profile: The 1992 NCAA player of the year at Cal State Long Beach, will be a backup to Steve Timmons at opposite the setter. Name: Steve Timmons Age: 33 City: Newport Beach Profile: A two-time gold medalist and MVP of 1984 Olympics, he returned to the U.S. team after playing two seasons in Italy. Name: Tammy Liley Age: 27 City: Westminster Profile: A member of the 1988 Olympic team, she is considered one of the squad’s most versatile players and is a valuable reserve.
