Walnut : Parking Limit Approved
A measure that will keep Walnut High School students from parking on a residential street next to the campus has received final approval from the City Council.
On a 4-0 vote Wednesday, the council instituted a one-hour parking limit along a 675-foot stretch of Abogado Avenue south of Vejar Road. The restriction would be effective from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on school days only.
Nineteen of the 20 homeowners who live along the affected portion of Abogado Avenue signed a petition urging city officials to approve the parking restriction. At the council’s July 8 meeting, several of them said students who park along their street are loud and unruly.
Students countered, however, that they are forced to park in residential areas because the school does not provide enough on-campus parking.
