SANTA ANA — A Fullerton man has died of a bullet wound suffered in a weekend gang-related drive-by shooting in Santa Ana, police said.
Ruben Ramirez, 22, and his friends were in a car passing 5300 West 5th Street about 11:10 p.m. Sunday and shooting at another group of men standing in front of the house, said Maureen Haacker, a police spokeswoman.
The second group of men returned fire into the car and hit Ramirez, whose friends then drove about a mile to call for help. He died Tuesday just before 4 p.m., officials said.
“Our gang detail is working on the case trying to come up with some suspects,” Haacker said.
