Video Rentals : ‘Wayne’s’ on Top of the World

Party on, everyone. At least enough of you have been partying on to boost “Wayne’s World” to the top of the Billboard rental chart in just its second week of video release, toppling the paranoiac creeper “Hand That Rocks the Cradle.” While the rest of the Top 5 holds pretty steady, three new entries in the Top 10 indicate more changes to come, with “White Men Can’t Jump”--starring Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes as hoopster con men--most likely to rise. The biggest surprise may be the slip of “Juice,” the inner-city drama with a hot hip-hop sound track. It falls from No. 8 to No. 14 in its fourth week in the stores.

* The animated barnyard Elvis-as-a-rooster parable was a box-office turkey, but it makes an admirable rental debut at No. 22. Maybe it was perfect for that one last summer fling for the kiddies.

Rank Weeks Last on the Week Chart 1. “Wayne’s World” 4 2 2. “The Prince of Tides” 2 3 3. “The Hand That Rocks Cradle” 1 8 4. “Hook” 3 6 5. “Rush” 5 4 6. “White Men Can’t Jump” ... 1 7. “Fried Green Tomatoes” ... 1 8. “Grand Canyon” 4 9 9. “Cape Fear” 7 12 10. “Medicine Man” ... 1 * “Rock-a-Doodle” ... 1
