Upscale Stores: Supermarket chains are going upscale to accommodate the tastes of residents.
Alpha Beta has opened a market inside the new Triangle Square shopping plaza at Newport and Harbor boulevards in Costa Mesa, where it will serve as an anchor along with such high-concept retailers as Southern California’s first Nike Town.
And Ralphs recently reopened its store in the Newport Hills Center at Ford Road and San Miguel Drive in Newport Beach with a “European-style” seafood department.
Ralphs also plans an Italian food case filled with cheeses and fresh pizzas.
