San Diego : Tip Leads to Arrest on Hit-Run Charge
- Share via
An anonymous tip led police Wednesday to arrest a 16-year-old Del Cerro youth on felony hit and run charges, officials said.
Police said the youth, whom they would not identify because of his age, was headed westbound on the 3400 block of El Cajon Boulevard in the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 27 when he allegedly swerved his car into a bicyclist headed east.
The bicyclist, Andy Witty, 31, suffered critical injuries. He recovered sufficiently to be released from Mercy Hospital earlier this week.
The police received the anonymous tip the day after the incident that led them to the youth’s car. The Traffic Investigations Unit made the arrest after their investigation, which included a close look at recent damage to the car, a police spokesman said.
