Politics and Religion

About God and politics: Cal Thomas has explained it all perfectly. Since certifiably religious folks like Pat Buchanan have “transforming faith” in their lives, they’re allowed to be mean-spirited and intolerant in the cause of God and the Republican Party.
Of course, the rest of us scum (Thomas includes Bill Clinton here), who are “casually ambivalent” about religion, must be willing to take personal responsibility for how we treat people. I will continue to do this, I’m sure Clinton will, and we all must hope that if the Republicans win, they won’t repeal the Golden Rule.
