Man Fatally Shot Outside Store

A 31-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday night as he stood in front of a liquor store with a friend in an unincorporated area near Torrance, sheriff’s officials said.
Edward James Kracht of Rancho Palos Verdes was outside the store at the 20700 block of Normandie Avenue when gunfire erupted about 9:15 p.m., said Deputy Ron Weber of the sheriff’s information bureau.
Kracht was struck once in the back. He was taken to County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he died about one hour later, Weber said.
Homicide investigators said the motive for the shooting is unknown.
