A dozen people were hurt Thursday when an RTD bus hit a car at a downtown Los Angeles intersection.
RTD spokesman Anthony Greno said the No. 78 bus was headed west on Macy Street when it collided with a car driving north on Main Street, near Olvera Street, shortly before noon. Police said one of the vehicles ran a red light, but both drivers told investigators they had a green light. Officers were interviewing witnesses to determine who was at fault.
Police said 12 passengers aboard the bus complained of pain and eight of them, including two children, were taken to hospitals for further observation. All the injuries were reported as minor. Neither the bus driver, William Altemeier of West Covina, nor the driver of the car, June Obayashi of Canyon Country, was injured.
Greno said 33 passengers were aboard the bus on a route from Arcadia to downtown Los Angeles.
