Police are still searching for the killer of a 19-year-old painter from Ontario who was shot over an argument about water balloons.
Jeff Wilson was enjoying a bonfire at Aliso Beach with a group of friends on May 9 when the party was pelted by a hail of water balloons thrown from a cliff top.
Wilson and a friend, 19-year-old Micah Stephanian, walked up the hill and confronted a pair of men. An argument quickly escalated to a push-and-shove match, which ended when one of the men pulled a knife.
Police say Wilson and Stephanian had turned and started walking away when the other man produced a gun and fired several shots. Wilson was shot in the head and back while Stephanian was wounded in the arm. Wilson died two days later at a local hospital.
The gunman was described as black-haired, about 20 years of age, between 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds.
Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact Detective Robert August of the Laguna Beach Police Department at (714) 497-0374.
