Bickering Over Presidential Debates
I recently saw an excellent performance of the Lincoln-Douglas debates. This should be seen by the presidential candidates as it portrays a level of integrity, respect and cooperation that does not exist today. Both Douglas and Lincoln put the preservation of the Union above party and personal gain.
After the presidential election that Douglas lost, Lincoln asked for his help and cooperation in running the country. Do you think that either Bush or Clinton will ask the other to do likewise after the November election?
