A note to Jim Murray: Hype is not more important than hits and the value of players is not determined by whether or not they are “good copy.”
Time and performance will tell which team got the better deal in the big Ranger-Athletic trade. If the players involved concentrate on strikeouts and run production, they will please fans and win pennants. If they focus on being colorful and controversial, they will please Jim Murray but achieve nothing.
