Collins Wins Title at Cardiff by the Sea

Richie Collins of Newport Beach won his first Bud Pro Surfing tour event of the season Sunday with a victory at the $22,000 Body Golve championships at Cardiff by the Sea.
Collins won $4,000 for the victory in six-foot conditions at Seaside Reef. Manhattan Beach’s Chris Frohoff won $2,250 for second place, followed by Encinitas’ Rob Machado ($1,300) and Hawaii’s Shane Dorian ($1,250).
San Clemente’s Shane Beschen lost in the quarterfinals but maintained his lead in the overall standings with 5,555 points.
