Ground Squirrel? No, Barbecued Squirrel

BAKERSFIELD — Republican Kathleen Honeycutt, an opponent of the federal Endangered Species Act running in the 34th Assembly District, said at a candidate’s forum here Wednesday that it is wrong to preserve declining wildlife species at the expense of business and feeding one’s family.
“If you have to barbecue the Mojave ground squirrel to feed your family, barbecue the squirrel,” she declared.
