Dang Undergoes Evaluation

Escondido High football player Vu Dang is being evaluated by the Rehabilitation Center staff at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas to determine his rehabilitation program, a hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday. Dang sustained a severe head injury in an Oct. 2 game against San Marcos.
Although visitors are not being allowed at this time, Dang’s family has sent out a message through the hospital’s public relations department that they appreciate the “loving concern expressed by the community.”
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Aurora Van Sickle and Roberta Smith had seven kills apiece for Point Loma Nazarene as the Crusaders took a 15-5, 15-1, 15-3 victory over visiting Christian Heritage in a District 3 game.
Van Sickle also had five aces and Sunday Renzema contributed four solo blocks and five assisted blocks. PLNC improved to 12-5; CHC dropped to 4-23.
MEN’S SOCCER
Point Loma Nazarene dropped a 4-2 Golden State Athletic Conference game to visiting Southern California College.
SCC had a 2-0 lead when PLNC’s Steve Beck scored off an assist from Socrates Scatolini at 26:00. SCC scored again before Scatolini struck at 40:00 to pull to 3-2, with C.J. Burroughs on the assist. SCC’s Chris Chaparro scored his third goal of the day at 86:00 to conclude scoring.
The Crusaders fell to 3-5-1, 0-3-1; SCC improved to 8-5-1, 2-1-1.
