A 2-year-old Covina area boy was undergoing treatment Wednesday at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena after he fell into a back-yard swimming pool and was pulled from the water by his mother, authorities said.
The accident occurred shortly after 4:20 p.m. Monday when Philip Bettinger wandered away from his parents and fell into the family pool in the back yard of their home in the 16600 block of Greenhaven Street, an unincorporated area near Covina, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies said.
The child was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation by his parents and deputies and taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina before being transferred to the Pasadena hospital, where his condition was not disclosed at the request of his family, a spokesperson said.
