James Stockdale

James Stockdale’s performance during the vice presidential debate (Oct. 13) actually humanized what could be called “autocratic, prepackaged, pre-rehearsed” renditions from Dan Quayle and Al Gore. Stockdale is not an experienced public speaker, true.
But any man who made those Greek chorus one-liners regarding gridlock and turning down the incoming volume of his hearing aid is nothing more than admirable.
