A man receiving money from an automated teller machine wrestled a gun from one of three would-be robbers Wednesday and shot the youth in the buttock, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
An adult male and two youths tried to rob the man at gunpoint at 5:34 p.m. at an automated teller machine at the Bank of America, 839 E. Palmdale Blvd., Deputy Jacquelyn Kramer said. But instead of handing over his cash, the customer wrestled a gun from one of the youths and shot him.
The injured youth and Raymond Tenorio, 23, of Quartz Hill were taken into custody at 15th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard, Kramer said. The other youth fled.
The unidentified 15-year-old youth was listed in fair condition at Palmdale Medical Center, Kramer said. Tenorio was held in lieu of $35,000 bail on suspicion of attempted robbery.
The customer, whose name was not released, was not injured, Kramer said.
