Coach: Tom Caspari (sixth year).
1991: The Rebels were the Orange League champions and finished with a 10-2-1 overall dual meet record. Brad Belanger finished fourth at the State meet at 135 pounds.
Key returners: Randy Bowers, Jr., 103 pounds; Richard Ramos, Jr., 112; Jeff Rodrigues, Sr., 145; David Rosales, Jr., 152; Mark Saba, Sr., 189; Teak Sato, Jr., 125.
Key newcomers: Brandon Bird, Fr., 112; Alfredo Delgadillo, Jr. 140; Aaron Garcia, Jr., 160; John Keblis, So., 125; Alberto Lara, Jr., 119; Bryan Neal, So., 135; Aaron Woolsey, Jr., heavyweight.
Outlook: Belanger’s graduation left a gaping hole in the middle of the Rebels’ lineup. Caspari will look to a young but talented group to fill in. Ramos, Rodrigues and Sato each finished sixth in the Southern Section 3-A individual finals. More help comes in the form of an undefeated junior varsity team. Delgadillo and Lara were each 22-0 to lead the JVs to a 12-0 record. Woolsey will replace Willie Green, a State-meet qualifier who graduated. Savanna was No. 2 in the preseason poll.
