Carolco to Miss Payments: The independent film company, whose pictures include the hit “Basic Instinct” and the upcoming “Chaplin,” was scheduled to pay $3.4 million today to note holders. The financially troubled company has 30 days before default occurs. Carolco did buy some time for itself with its banks by negotiating an extension through Jan. 9 of a credit facility with a group led by Credit Lyonnais Bank Nederland. Last week, Carolco disclosed that it is in violation of some terms of that credit facility, adding that it is trying to raise money to stay afloat.
