SIMI VALLEY : Workshop to Cover Transit for Disabled
- Share via
Simi Valley Transit, the agency that operates the city’s public bus and Dial-a-Ride van services, will conduct a workshop Thursday focusing on the transportation needs of disabled residents.
The agency is seeking suggestions and comments from disabled riders and from people who care for the handicapped as it moves to comply with the federal Americans With Disabilities Act.
The federal law, which took effect last year, requires public transportation agencies to make their services more accessible to people with disabilities.
The workshop will include a discussion of the effort to adopt countywide guidelines to identify disabled residents who are eligible for special transportation services.
The seminar will run from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the community room at Simi Valley City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
Handicapped residents who need Dial-a-Ride van transportation to attend can arrange a trip by calling 527-2441 at least 24 hours before the meeting, transit officials said.
