A 33-year-old Northridge man was killed Sunday in La Canada Flintridge when the car he was driving veered off Angeles Crest Highway and tumbled down a steep ravine, authorities said.
The man, whose identity was withheld pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at 10:10 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Phil Jernigan said.
The man was driving west about 45 m.p.h. when, for unknown reasons, his car crossed into the eastbound lane and went over the side of the road, Jernigan said.
The man was ejected from his car and landed about 200 feet over the side of the ravine. The car ended up 200 feet farther downhill, Jernigan said. A witness reported the accident, Jernigan said.
