‘Damage’ Control: Director Louis Malle’s steamy, sexual drama “Damage” will hit theaters with an R rating after minor cuts were made in an erotic scene between stars Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche. The film had been rated NC-17 by the Motion Picture Assn. of America, meaning that no one under 17 could be admitted. Distributor New Line Pictures, however, resubmitted the movie, minus what is described as a “few seconds,” and won the new rating. “Damage” opens in Los Angeles and New York on Dec. 23.
