A $28-million expansion of Santa Anita Fashion Park--including a new Nordstrom department store, the first Robinsons-May Co. store, a food court, more high-fashion boutiques and parking--has received final approval.
The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday in favor of two ordinances allowing the rezoning and boundary changes necessary to add the Nordstrom, expand the May Co. outlet and turn some Santa Anita racetrack parking into additional parking for the mall at 400 S. Baldwin Avenue.
City officials say the mall expansion will bring in an additional $530,000 in sales tax for the city in 1994 and as much as $1.7 million by the year 2000.
The 136,000-square-foot Nordstrom will open in August, 1994. It will be an expansion of the vacated Buffums department store on the west side of the mall.
