In another quarterfinal:
Ocean View 65, Locke 60--Greg Rosenberg scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds for Ocean View (4-1). Teammates Kevin Johnson and Sean Goodgame had 14 and 12 points, respectively. Demetrius Nettles scored 24 points for Locke (5-2).
In the Irvine World News tournament:
Palos Verdes Peninsula 70, Saddleback 61--Chris Bradshaw and Rob Holloway each made four three-point shots and scored 24 and 20 points, respectively, for Saddleback (2-3) in a second-round loss. Matt Acres had 20 points and 12 rebounds for Peninsula (6-1).
Irvine 64, Marina 51--Irvine’s Eric Amborzich made 10 of 14 shots from the floor and finished with 25 points and nine rebounds in a quarterfinal game. Greg Foster scored 12 and Jim French 11 for Irvine (5-1). Eric Endsley had 16 points for Marina.
University 68, Diamond Bar 63--Demi Zeigler broke a 61-61 tie by making two free throws with 1:32 left and Robert Luna and Ali Amiri each made two free throws down the stretch to help University to the second-round victory.
Zeigler had 28 points and nine rebounds and Robert Luna had 21 points for University (2-3). Keith Van Horn had 32 points for Diamond Bar (4-3), the top-seeded team in the tournament.
Kennedy 70, Woodbridge 51--Jeff Cummins scored 24 points and made three three-pointers for Kennedy (3-3) in a second-round game. Patrick Kunz had 15 points and had 10 rebounds and John Florence had 18 points for Woodbridge (2-3).
San Clemente 76, Pomona Garey 68--Luke Mannix had 27 points and 16 rebounds and Matt Ortiz had 18 points for San Clemente (3-4) in a consolation game at Irvine High. Garey is 2-2.
Santa Ana Valley 71, Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe 35--Anthony Porter had 23 points and Jeff Serrano had 16 points and eight rebounds for Santa Ana Valley (3-4) in a consolation game at Irvine High. Santa Fe is 0-6.
Compton 92, Santa Ana 76--Fred Mora had 23 points for Santa Ana (1-3) in a consolation-round loss. Teammates Gus Garcia and Darnell Adamson had 14 and 10 points, respectively.
In the Fullerton tournament:
Western 57, Cerritos 44--Senior Frank Floyd had 18 points and 10 rebounds for Western (6-1) in a first-round game. Jason Etter added 12 points for the Pioneers.
In the Sonora Cage tournament:
Century 70, Southern California Christian 34--Thomas Harmon had 17 points and Darvin Thompson had 14 for Century (4-1) in a first-round game.
Troy 62, Santiago 41--Matt Cardillo had 18 points and Mark Stenner had 17 points as Troy (4-2) won a first-round game.
In the La Verne Damien tournament:
Bell Gardens 58, El Dorado 55--Dan Watson and Terry Williams scored 21 and 13 points, respectively, for El Dorado (2-5) in a quarterfinal loss. Eddie Santana had 18 points for Bell Gardens (4-2).
In nonleague play:
Laguna Hills 52, El Toro 41--Junior center Jesse McDonald had 12 points and five rebounds for Laguna Hills (3-2).
Magnolia 80, Loara 71--Aaron Williams scored 23 points for Magnolia (6-1). Scott Davis had 28 points and made eight three-pointers for Loara (3-4).
Katella 62, Anaheim 47--Benny Garcia had 15 points and Brian Carlson had 14 for Katella (6-2).
Valencia 70, La Habra 58--Kevin Deck had 22 points, including 10 for 10 from the free-throw line, for Valencia. Eddy Glover scored 19 for host La Habra (4-3).
Capistrano Valley 62, Estancia 36--Corey Kost had 16 points for Capistrano Valley, which led, 43-19, after three quarters. Clay Frenz scored 12 points for Estancia (4-5). Teammates Jim Faulkner and Matt Chapman each had nine points.
