MGM Account to Foote, Cone & Belding: Metro Goldwyn Mayer has handed its $35-million media buying account to the Los Angeles office of Foote, Cone & Belding. The move is a blow to Wells Rich Greene BDDP/Los Angeles, which has handled the MGM account for nine years. MGM was its largest client. Richard Macedo, president of the agency, said the firm will remain open and that it plans no “short-term” layoffs. Foote, Cone--which will be hiring media planners and buyers--will also take over strategic media planning in February, 1993.
